As a part of the “Generation Tomorrow” CSR program, Softelligence is proud to support the SOS Planet Scholarships, an educational project initiated by the SOS Satele Copiilor Romania Association.
Softelligence – Generation Tomorrow is a CSR program launched earlier this year, that will unfold in four quarterly stages, and will include initiatives with a positive social impact in the medium and long term, focused mainly on youth education.
This program is dedicated to primary school children, offering them a learning space based on balanced development on all three levels – cognitive, emotional, and social – nurturing essential skills for the future.
Within this project, children who are facing financial difficulties can benefit from the afterschool educational programs at no cost. The scholarships consist of full access to afterschool services and summer school, as well as transport, catering, and school supplies.
“We already know that over 1 and a half million children in Romania are children at risk of poverty and social exclusion. Not only in rural areas do we see this sad reality; in Bucharest, as well, there are many children who need access to inclusive education, focused on socio-emotional development, to solve the challenges accelerated and aggravated by the context of the pandemic. For them, we developed the SOS Scholarships program, which offers equal opportunities for education for all children, regardless of the environment they come from or the context of their lives, and aims to improve the gaps caused by the pandemic”, said Diana Podaru, General Manager of SOS Satele Copiilor Romania.
“We are glad to support the SOS Planet Scholarships. Together with ‘SOS Satele Copiilor Romania’ and the ‘SOS Planet Afterschool’ teams, we believe that we can work towards building a better society – through innovation and education. That is why we want to offer educational support to children who really need it “ Adrian Blidăruș, Softelligence CEO, added.
According to the latest analysis carried out by the “SOS Satele Copiilor Romania” Association, most children at risk in Bucharest come from the 1st district, followed by the 5th and the 4th.
The same analysis shows that structural risk factors (poverty and low socioeconomic status), individual risk factors (single-parent families, adolescent mothers, the existence of physical or mental disability of the parents), unfortunate events (death of the parents, detained parent, previously institutionalized parents), and the relational-behavioral risk factors (neglect, abuse, exploitation, domestic violence) rank among the most common causes of the children’s higher risk status in Bucharest.
